[edit]What is the plural of Lord Lieutenant? Is it Lords Lieutenant, or Lord Lieutenants? john 03:50, 15 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Definitely Lords Lieutenant. Mintguy 03:53, 15 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I think it is definitely Lord Lieutenants. They were the Sovereign's Lieutenant in Ireland; "Lord" was just an honorary title shoved on the front. The article should be moved to List of Lord Lieutenants of Ireland. Donald, 00.46, 13th January 2005
- I'm not so sure. It was, after all, originally "Lord Deputy of Ireland", which looks awfully like "Deputy Lord of Ireland" with the word order reversed. It wouldn't make an awful lot of sense to be a "Deputy of Ireland", whether lordly or not. It also may be significant that it's unhyphenated, unlike the Lord-Lieutenant of a County, which suggests that they may merely be different terms that happen to look similar. The many names on this page need to be wikified for they all deserve articles. I removed the images because they are too wide for small resolution screes. Image:Dcastlemaindoor.jpg will be moved to Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. The other two were irrelevant (Image:Hofcent1.jpg already linked to where it belongs). This image needs a home: <div style="float:right; width:400px; padding:2px; margin-left:1em; text-align:center"> [[Image:Chiefsecoffice.jpg]]<br>'''Chief Secretary's Office, Dublin Castle'''<br><small>By the late 19th century, power had effectively shifted from the Lord Lieutenant across the courtyard of Dublin Castle to his number two, the Chief Secretary for Ireland.</small></div> (Image:Chiefsecoffice.jpg). It should be added to Chief Secretary for Ireland when the article exists. --Jiang 02:06, 11 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Earl of Surrey
[edit]Shouldn't this list Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk (AKA the Earl of Surrey) for 1520-22? I'm almost certain he held this title, but I decided to check before doing anything. --Danfly (talk) 17:34, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I've linked the above to double check (probably triple check by now). MacStep (talk) 21:30, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
