[edit]Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.
The merger was not an appropriate edit.
1. Three votes doth not a consensus make, particularly when the original editor and probably other major contributors were not notified.
The merger ignored the highly appropriate comment by Beanmf
- Comment - We might take Gettysburg, PA as a guide. There is a short entry there for the Civil War battle, but the battle core has its own entry. I would say that perhaps this belongs in a subsection of "The Southern Theater of the American Revolutionary War" or "History of South Carolina" which are both too short. The importance of the Marion's efforts and its relevance to the popular movie "The Patriot" suggests we retain the content somewhere. I think it unwise to lose it in just another town history.--Beanmf 13:48, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
2. The historical article is about Williamsburg, not Williamsburg County. Historical Williamsburg was one of the original townships, which became the mother of numerous counties. It is more nearly analagous to the modern Pee Dee region.
3. It makes the Williamsburg County page top-heavy with history of the larger region. And although what came to be known as Marion's Men, or Marion's Brigade was originally the Williamsburg Militia, they also served beyond the region's boundries. The historical simply cannot be constricted to apply only to modern Williamsburg County. Pollinator 04:09, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
