[edit]When adding links to other language wikipedia entries, please write some note in English in the edit summary. Generally people write (interwiki:ta) or something along those lines. This just makes it easier for other editors to tell what you did. DirectorStratton 20:00, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)
Ilaiyaraaja
[edit]Hi Ravi, Thank you for writing back. It's good to hear from you. Keep up the good job there at Tamil Wikipedia. I will heed your advice and try to ask the people over at Raaja Sir's official website for permission to use some pictures. Would appreciate any help that you can provide to help us improve the Ilaiyaraaja page here at English Wikipedia. Best wishes and take care, AppleJuggler 14:27, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Interview with Ilaiyaraaja in the Tamil edition of the magazine India Today (the 3rd August 2005 issue) -- have you read it?
[edit]- Found something useful for your work on the Tamil Wikipedia's Ilaiyaraaja article. Apparently, Ilaiyaraaja was featured in the front cover of the Tamil edition of India Today (see here). This 3rd August 2005 issue contains an interview with the composer. Have you read it? I presume it is published in the Tamil language. I don't read the Tamil language, and so the article would not be accessible to me. But it might be useful to you. I would also appreciate it if you can provide me with some details of its content if you manage to find this article and read it. It will be very helpful for my work on the English version Wikipedia article for Ilaiyaraja. Thank you, and have a nice week. AppleJuggler 04:32, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi
[edit]I saw that you made a vote on the vote on Tamil-Americans. You have either put 'Keep' or 'Delete' in front of your vote to cast your vote (Upto my knowledge). Thanks and have a nice day Praveen 13:20, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thanks for your note in my user talk page re Tamil language page edits. Please keep a watch on this page- when the tamil-haters revert correct information, please step in to stop this act, which I think is a clear case of vandalism but they claim is content dispute. These guys resort to such indecent behaviour even when excellent supporting references are provided. So, do help us by undoing some of their acts of vandalism masquerading as 'content-dispute'. --Aadal 12:58, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Re Romanization of Tamil
[edit]Ravi, you left a message in my userpage about a request for an artilce on romanization of Tamil. I'm not sure I understand the request well enough. The next month or so is going to be extremely hectic for me and I won't be able to start anything seriously now. I thought Arvind had something already worked out for the above topic. The first order of business is to retain the FA for Tamil language. The state of tamil-related articles is really deteriorating. The Pandyar article is not FA class, Cheras are even worse. Carnatic Music and Bharatanatyam are really bad. There is so much to work, but so little resources. Several experienced editors are simply tired or over worked - Sundar, Arvind, Venu62..--Aadal 20:15, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:33, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. ARBIPA sanctions alert
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have recently shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Candid Chat about 2021 Board of Trustee Candidature Experience
[edit](Sharing the invite here since I didn't have your email id on record. Kindly reply at csinha-ctr@wikimedia.org)
Hello Ravishankar,
I am Chitraparna Sinha, the community facilitator of SAARC for the Movement Strategy & Governance (MSG) initiative.
As you might already be aware, the 2022 Board of Trustee elections are in the offing, and we are reaching out to 2021 Board of Trustee candidates to know about their 2021 election experience. The aim is to improve the election process. Your opinion is valuable as you have first-hand experience about the process.
If you are interested to have this 1:1 discussion, kindly state your availability between 7 February and 12 February 2022. I will share the calendar invite accordingly.
We could explore the following questions as talking points:
- What worked well during the 2021 Board of Trustees election & what would you like to change?
- What do candidates need to know about the role of a Trustee?
- What would you change about the way candidates interact with the community (through meta-wiki or via regional calls)? What do you think the community question process should look like?
Thanks for your time. Looking forward to your revert.
