Welcome Stuff (go ahead, read it)
[edit]Hello Tonsofpcs and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Follow the Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!
About the article Compaq portable
[edit]There is a new article Compaq Portable that differs from the title of your "Compaq portable" article by just the capitalisation of the 'P' in portable. Compaq Portable talks about a specific member of the family of Compaq portables. Perhaps the "Compaq portable" article can be re-named to something else and expanded to talk about the range of portable computers offered by Compaq. This will solve a conflict of articles differing by just the capitalisation of the first letter of the second word. Ae-a 23:00, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Moved Compaq portable to Compaq portable series so that it may be expanded to talk about the entire series (Portable, Portable II, Portable 286, Portable III, etc.) - Tonsofpcs 03:44, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks. I've also updated the redirect "Compaq portable" so that it points to "Compaq Portable" instead of "Compaq portable series", as well as add links to "Compaq portable series" from "Compaq" and "Compaq Portable". Make sure than anything of yours that used to link to "Compaq portable" now links to "Compaq portable series" Ae-a 11:34, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

Microsoft Windows
[edit]Welcome to wikipedia, I can can see you are a great contributor. Thanks to your brilliant edit summary, I notcied you moved some info from Microsoft Windows to Microsoft Windows/Versions. Using subpages (ie, the /Versions) is not usually done on wikipedia, unless you are preparing a page, where "Blahblah/temp" might be approriate. But don't worry, I have moved Microsoft Windows/Versions to Microsoft Windows versions. It was definately a needed page. --Commander Keane 05:14, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
- Ah, ok, never actually seen that cleared up anywhere (I was also thinking of (Versions) too...) nice fast work :) --tonsofpcs (Talk) 05:20, 25 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Sorry for the error that I made on the revert to the Windows Vista article. I meant Tonsofpcs, not Lotsofpcs. — Alex 01:27, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:53, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
