I'd like to start a discussion about collaborative workspaces. What works and what doesn't? Does anybody have any experience they'd like to share?
merge
[edit]Should be merged into Collaborative software; see talk there. —Quarl (talk) 2006-01-13 22:27Z
Should it be the other way around? .e. merge Collaborative software into Collaborative workspace. This would ensure that 'collaboration' elements (including the need for a shared mental model, ba, shared language) are the prime focus rather than the software. Johnmarkh 23:44, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Actually (and it's possible I'm the strange exception) I've been looking for a term for my doctoral research that encapsulates a simple collaborative system, rather than a very large/complex one. So far, "collaborative workspace" is easily the best, and I see it quite differently from collaborative software, *unless* collaborative software is adjusted to reflect simple systems, not just large, complex ones. Happy to discuss further: colin.furness@utoronto.ca. (May 19, 2006)
collaborative workspace, software
[edit]for collaboration we use one/some/all of:
- a meeting room
- a wiki
- chat
while the latter is clear "software", i'm not sure if it is a "workspace". i would consider my office where i use the chat the workspace, or maybe my computer or a window on it. this would lead to "a collaborative workspace may need (collaborative) software". --ThurnerRupert 05:34, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
"Collaborative workspace" and "Coworking" have different meanings.
[edit]Coworking is an arrangement in which workers for different companies share an office space.
Collaborative workspace means the place of collaboration. https://web.archive.org/web/20120225053054/http://www.ami-communities.eu/pub/bscw.cgi/d163187/The%20Future%20Workspace.pdf
So why not redirect Collaborative workspace to Coworking? Mocha c jp (talk) 13:31, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
