[edit]Which of 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 are the "three" symphonies premiered by Mravinsky?
This reminds me of the famous old schoolboy howler: "Beethoven wrote 3 symphonies, the 5th, the 6th and the 9th".

I've changed it to five for now, though I found another page which said "5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12". Any advance? ;) I'm working through the symphonies now, which may clarify things. Markalexander100 10:42, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Oops! Looks like I'm responsible for that one. To be honest, I can't remember where I got the info from, and it could probably do with checking, but I'm sure I meant to write "five" instead of "three" in the first place. Sorry about that. --Camembert
Sorted. He premiered 6 of the symphonies, but not all with the Leningrad Philharmonic [1]. Markalexander100 21:22, 21 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I've changed his dates with the Leningrad Philharmonic to be 1938-1988. This is supported on several websites, for example [2] Grover cleveland 18:06, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Evgeny vs. Yevgeny
[edit]Is there a good reason why we spell it it "Evgeny" in the title? (It's "Yevgeny" in the lede, btw). WP:RUS says that E (Russian letter) is romanized as "E", except at the start of words, when it becomes "Ye", and gives Boris Yeltsin as an example of what to do. -- JackofOz (talk) 06:43, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- No objections (or even comments), so I've moved it. -- JackofOz (talk) 21:26, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
