[edit]Santa Monica Pier does deserve an article, but it should start with useful information. 24.226.210.63 has been posting apparently spurious information in other articles and the material in the first draft is too informal to be a worthwhile beginning. I'm doing a Santa Monica history article and will make a reasonable article shortly, if no one else does it sooner. 24.226.210.63 is welcome to contribute, but with more care please. User: Freeusa contributions uploaded a couple photos of the pier, but I am not sure how useful they are. The first one might work okay if cropped and lightened a bit. Unfortunately, Freeusa didn't include any copyright info with the images. The second one is just too busy in my opinion, although a cropped view of just the pier (minus the amusements) might work. gK ¿?
Ferris Wheel on eBay
[edit]I just got some good news that we could add: the ferris wheel is being sold on eBay with a starting bid of $50,000. I checked the listing, and 50% of the profit is going to the Special Olympics in Southern California/LA. You can find the listing for more information by looking up "ferris wheel" and doing "price: highest first." Stevv (talk) 10:20, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Western Terminus of U.S. Route 66
[edit]U.S. Route 66, probably the most famous highway in American history (though decommissioned in 1985), had its Western Terminus at Colorado Bl. and Ocean Ave, the entrance to the Santa Monica Pier (though some locals stated the road actually ended a few hundred feet onto the pier itself prior to renovation; unconfirmed of course). I feel that should be of significance and added to the article. Michaelopolis (talk) 06:48, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
