Napier's bones

[edit]

Need to add stuff on square and cube roots, also Genaille-Lucas rulers and the Napier abacus.

--Kbs 02:11, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I finished the entry here adding the cubic roots. Guillermo 02:52, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi Kbs, I don't know if someone is translating the spanish entry as you asked for in the discusion page of the Napier's bones; if not, I can try to do so this weekend if is useful for you. Maybe my english is a little better than your spanish (surely no) Also if you need pictures I can draw them (for your explanations of course) without problem.

Guillermo

That's a very generous offer, thanks! My vote is for you to translate any sections (including replacing the square root portion that I wrote) that you find the time to do. This will make everything stylistically consistent, as my edits look too verbose compared to the rest of it.

Best regards,

Replaceable fair use Image:Rabdology Cover Page.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Rabdology Cover Page.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Carl (CBM · talk) 02:48, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Napier-example-4.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Napier-example-4.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
