disambig
[edit]You were going about that Kelly Clarkson disambig all wrong. There was already a dab page at Breakaway. I added the Beach Boys link there and moved her song to Breakaway (Kelly Clarkson song). You erased the entire article, and we try to keep the edit histories intact without doing that. Regards, Mike H. That's hot 08:42, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I just saw, no problem.
- I also moved your article to Breakaway (Beach Boys song). Regards, Mike H. That's hot 08:45, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Chomsky
[edit]You have added
- Has an admiration for Bolivia and Evo Morales and socialist states in general. Refers to the People's Republic of China as one of the world's leading peaceloving states (Speech, Binghamton University, March 4, 2006)
In future please refrain from adding unsourceable / misleading text to articles. Zleitzen 12 March 2006
- Thank you for replying to my post. Please understand that the aim of Wikipedia is to construct established academic encyclopaedia methods. Your additions would not be sufficient within that context, as you have confirmed that the only source is yourself. Given that your statements are contentious, it is only correct that they should be removed until sources have been legitimately referenced.
- Your statement concerning Chomsky and China is contentious and potentially misleading to readers when compared to the statement Chomsky makes here
- Chomsky quotes the former Director of Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution, John Steinbruner who said the words“US militarism and aggressiveness will be countered by a coalition of peace-loving states, led by China” Chomsky adds “We have come to a pretty pass when such words are expressed in the most respectable and sober journals. It is also worth noting how deep is the despair of the authors over the state of American democracy. Whether or not the assessment is merited is for activists to determine.”
- Therefore Chomsky is merely quoting Steinbruner rather than expressing that opinion himself. Unless there is evidence otherwise then the matter cannot be continued --Zleitzen 20:03, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
Re: Vandalism Report
[edit]I was working on a paper-I still am-and am reverting edits from user 151.188.16.40. He has appeared to contribute nothing except vandalism. Worse, some of these are undetected, and updated after. He has been blocked several times, and I'm wondering if this IP can be blocked once and for all. J. M. 08:43, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hello! I would be happy to help with this. Can you give me a link to the article being vandalised in order for me to compare the edits in the history, please? I can also look at the other contributions from this IP address. Regards, (aeropagitica) 12:08, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello. This edit of yours effectively undid a prior edit made by me. Your edit summary simply stated rv. vandalism. This is inappropriate use of both the edit summary and the term vandalism irritates me. I strongly advise you not to use "vandalism" as an epithet, but only refer to an edit as such if it is beyond reasonable doubt that the edit in question does in fact constitute vandalism. I have now restored my prior edit, and will be keeping a watchful eye on that article's talk page to see if you are going to explain your grievances there or post any constructive suggestions for how the article might be improved. BigAdamsky|TALK|EDITS| 13:46, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Commented on prior page. The vandalism came from another author, hence why I went back a few pages. Everything should be settled now.J. M. 07:14, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Phish
[edit]First of all, welcome to wikipedia, it looks as if you are new. But if you are not, disregard that. I dont want to get off to a bad start, but, if i may speak candidly, exactly how much of the Phish article did you read. Now, dont get me wrong, i am not trying to criticize. Its just been that in the past, people who have posted an NPOV tag, read only parts of the article, found one or two NPOV statements and freaked out.
Now, you said you were unable to remove the NPOV because you dont know enough about the band or music. But, NPOV can be removed without having any knowledge of the topic you are reading about. For example, take these to statements: "Kevin Garnett, one of the best basketball players in the NBA..." - this is obviously an NPOV statement, so, even if you didnt know a thing about basketball, you could easily remove the NPOV by changing the grammer, such as "Kevin Garnett, an American basketball player in the NBA..."
So, with this example, you dont need to know anything except basic grammer to remove a bulk of the NPOV that is in articles. So, for now i am going to remove the NPOV tag and i encourage you to re-read through the article and remove the small NPOV you may see, or post on the talk page if you are unsure or have questions. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions.--Gephart 07:23, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- I've read the article. There's no criticism of Phish. Even on The Beatles or The Beach Boys contain criticism. There's none here. Not one trace. And I like Phish. And there's a ton of irrelevent information to the casual reader, about as much equal to, say, the Brian Wilson page (Which itself is hopelessly POV, and I've changed a few words from "realized" to "believed", etc. because mono mixing is not a "realization" as better than stereo, its an opinion, etc.). Hence, also, fanboy. I wrote on the discussion page.J. M. 07:11, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Coal Black.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Coal Black.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:04, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from Virginia Tech massacre. Please be more careful when editing articles and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. dcandeto 20:09, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi. When you uploaded Image:Knightmove.GIF, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image, and that, just as with all of your text contributions, you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.
This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.
If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.
If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week.
Please feel free to contact me on my talk page if I can be of assistance or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. MER-C 09:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
